Not only is a mark of shame for the last 16 COPs, it is a worrying sign. Basically, now is the time to cut global emissions, and talking of failure is a sure way to actually fail.

For this reason and as a build-up to the Global Day of Action in Durban on the 3rd of Dec., Earthlife Africa Jhb and allies will be marching on Saturday, 26th of November 2011. As Makoma Lekalakala, Programme Officer at Earthlife Africa Jhb states, “The world is coming to South Africa and the only question is will there be only hot air, or will a deal be reached? We, in Africa, need a deal. Runaway climate change, or even warming above 1.5 degrees Celsius, will undermine all our development gains made since liberation. We are marching to demand that this COP doesn’t become another failure, a failure that will cost the lives of Africans.”
